Courtney McCarty is an International Program Specialist in the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the Department of Commerce Office of the General Counsel. Ms. McCarty works on CLDP’s programs in North Africa, which contribute to the development of dynamic economies in the region.
Prior to joining CLDP, Ms. McCarty served as a contractor facilitating trainings for the Economic and Commercial Studies Division at the Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, Virginia. Previously, she worked as a researcher in U.S. defense and foreign policy at Congressional Quarterly and as an English teaching assistant for the French Ministry of Education in Bourges, France. She also has interned with the United Nations Security Council, the Department of State's Bureau of International Organization Affairs, Conservation International, and the U.S. Congress.
Ms. McCarty earned a Master of Arts in International Relations and International Economics from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. She graduated cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. Ms. McCarty is fluent in French.
