Edd Rivera is an Attorney Advisor in the Office of the Chief Counsel for International Commerce (OCC-IC). His practice focuses primarily on investment (including as programmatic counsel to the SelectUSA program), tax, data privacy (including advising on the Privacy Shield Framework), and Europe. Edd is also the office's Intern Program Coordinator. Prior to joining OCC-IC, Edd clerked for the Honorable Victor J. Wolski at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Edd also has experience working at an international law firm in Tokyo, Japan as a U.S. qualified cross-border finance lawyer.
Edd received his JD from Columbia Law School and holds an MA in international relations from Johns Hopkins University SAIS. Edd led an active law school life as an Articles Editor for the Columbia Journal of Tax Law, the Treasurer of the Columbia European Law Association, the President of the Middle Eastern Law Students Association, the Inaugural Chair of the Federalist Society’s lecture series on Capitalism and the Rule of Law, a research assistant on corporate law, and a teaching fellow for torts. Edd also spent a semester abroad studying at King’s College London School of Law, was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and served as Senior Editor of the SAIS Review of International Affairs. He holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from Boston University.
Edd enjoys reading historical fiction, wathcing foreign films, running, hiking, and generally remaining active. He has a pet Russian Blue cat known as Pops.
Edd is a member of both the New York and D.C. bars.
