Dr. Hain is the Patent Attorney for the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He has 15 years of science research experience in chemistry, physics, and math that includes being a rocket scientist at The Aerospace Corporation, a researcher at various universities, a postdoc at Sandia National Laboratory, and a professor of chemistry. Dr. Hain received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Ph.D. in Chemistry (physical chemistry/chemical physics) from the University of Utah. Prior to joining the Department of Commerce, Dr. Hain was a patent attorney in private practice and served as a patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office. He is a registered patent attorney with the USPTO and is licensed to practice before the courts of New Jersey and the Creek Nation.
